Can you change your mindset?

YES! 100% YES!

 

This is another common question I get asked mostly from the older generation, but it is still common in young kids to think that they can’t change out they think.

When we grow up, we are instilled with a set of beliefs our parents and grandparents give up and we don’t even question if they are the best fit for us. As we grow, we adapt and can learn to change our mindset but only if we want too.

 

The key in changing our mindset is being open to change, the real issue people face is they are scared of change, they have been told change is wrong and they can even believe that if they change, they are failing…

 

Something I try to teach my athletes and even their parents or partners that it is ok to fail, it is ok to be wrong, it is ok to change. As we grow change is the best thing for us, we learn who we are and who we want to become. We need to embrace change because that is when we open up our growth mindset to build a stronger mental state.

 

We go from believing what we have been taught is the only right answer or only right way to do something to adapting and opening our mind to new possibilities in life. That is when life becomes exciting!

 

Few simple things to remember to open our growth mindset:

  • Remind yourself it is ok to fail or be wrong
  • Learn to ask for help
  • You are your biggest roadblock so get out of your own way
  • It starts with you and your habits & routines so form good ones
  • Make sure your circle of friends and family are building you up and testing you to step outside your comfort zone.
  • Do be afraid to be a beginner in something
